I am Colin Hoult. Welcome to my website.

I am an actor, writer and character comedian, inherently inclined towards the darkly comedic and strange, whether through nature or nurture I cannot say. Though I partly blame my brother Steven for getting into a sleeping bag and chasing me as a 5 year old, creating in the process the hideous Slurp Monster. A terrifying slug like beast that has cast his dark shadow across all my work with his fearsome cry ‘Slurp!’ In this as in all things I cower beneath Steven’s infinite genius.

I have appeared as Brian Medici, the highly camp medium on Life’s Too Short, in Milton Jones’ House of Rooms, This is Jinsey,  Russell Howard’s Good News and other mighty productions.  I also perform regularly as a character comedian in various seedy clubs and theatres. You may have seen me as karate freak Len Parker, Predator obsessed soldier Andy Parker, star of stage and screen Anna Mann, Mike (normal 31), or recently as Bill, a mask teacher now pregnant with his own homonculli. Or you may not. It depends if you were there I suppose.

I have a great love of the Green Lantern Corps, the lions of London Zoo, The Usborne book of Greek / Norse Myths, films about the Devil, the poetry of Richard Selig, and working on my Lovefilm list. I have an intense fear of the actor Ryan Reynolds. He is in many ways the embodiment of all that is warped and cruel in this universe.

I am generally happiest when creating and performing my live work. This includes Edinburgh Festival  shows Carnival of Monsters, Enemy of the World and Inferno as well as my regular night of comedy, music and general pissing about, Colin Hoult: New Adventures and my experimental horror extravaganza, Real Horror Show.

This website is to give information for anyone who’s interested in what I’m up to and where you can catch my live shows. It also serves as a record of my creations for some distant brain in a jar style ancestor to catalogue and criticise.
